Frank Robinsonis an American former Major League Baseballoutfielder and manager. He played for five teams from 1956 to 1976, and became the only player to win league MVP honors in both the National and American Leagues. We need two to exceed expectations, and we need one to be right on the borderline. That's what we need, because if you don't, it dumps a bigger load on the bullpen. We're just going to have to wait and see.
We have to get people on base. That's what we have to do. We have to get people on base and we have to get the big base hit. We're not doing any of that right now. We also have to start driving the ball to the gaps -- doubles. And we have to start our offense early in the inning rather than waiting for one or two outs. Those are the things we have to do and then things will fall into place. We will score runs. We will have the opportunity to score runs. We will have the opportunity to drive runs in.
Every Opening Day is special to me. When they don't become special to you, it's time for you to get out of the game. You get butterflies, and can't wait to get started. You look forward to it from the time the season ends until the next Opening Day.
The time for forgiveness and overlooking and waiting is over because you just don't have those numbers of games left. We got to have people going out there now doing the job, not hoping they are doing it.
Pretty soon, if we don't right the ship, it's going to be too late. The early stuff is over with. You wait and wait and wait, and it continues and continues and continues, so you try something else.

I remember my first Opening Day very well. We lost 4-2 to the Cardinals on a two-run home run. I remember my first at-bat, a double, missed a home run by a couple of feet. I had an intentional walk and another hit and went 2-for-3, and I thought I was on my way to the Hall of Fame.
