Republican leaders are shamelessly exploiting the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the disruption it caused to our energy supplies to promote their long-sought radical energy policy ... (and) devastate vast amounts of America's most prized environmental possessions,
asked borne brave cause consent country hold homes liberty month reasonably render service spare stay
My brave fellows, ... you have done all I asked you to do and more than could be reasonably expected. But this country is at stake, your wives, your homes and everything you hold dear. You have borne yourself up with fatigues and hardships, but we know not how to spare you. If you consent to stay one month longer, you will render that service to the cause of liberty and this country which you probably could never do under any other circumstances.

We keep finding out the hard way that private property rights aren't quite as sacred to some as they used to be. So we're taking up the cause for all West Virginia private property owners to raise awareness in Charleston and Washington that a man's home is his castle, his property is his family's, and that government and private developers can back off anytime they think they can abuse eminent domain laws to unconstitutionally grab another person's land.

Today's announcement appears to be good news for our efforts to keep the Navy's jets at Oceana. It throws a well-deserved wrench into the controversial, unwise and unusual BRAC order. However, I would urge caution before anyone suggests that the encroachment problems in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake are of no concern to the Navy. We must not be distracted from addressing the issues that have caused this discussion in the first place. We must aim to make sure that Oceana remains the best location for the Master Jet Base on the East Coast.

His death certificate says he died first of pneumonia and secondly of Alzheimer's disease. They could have listed another cause of death: a refusal to properly care for dementia sufferers, even when they are violent, and an equal inability to care for their carers. My dad died of dementia, but also because dying was the easiest way to treat him.

If it is shown that depleted uranium causes an increase in cancers, then we have got to look at alternative weapon systems and at precautions which could be taken to protect our troops, as well as at how we can clean up the areas where the shells were used.
