buried business care matters men money neglect political schemes seem swallow thoughts wholly
There are many things which swallow up men's thoughts while they live, which they will think little of when they are dying. Myriads are buried in business and money matters and seem to neglect everything else but this world.
calls christ godly heart holy inward jesus life lord love man natural principle puts separates sins spiritual true work works
Sanctification is that inward spiritual work which the Lord Jesus Christ works in a man by the Holy Spirit when He calls him to be a true believer. He not only washes him from his sins in His own blood, but He also separates him from his natural love of sin and the world, puts a new principle in his heart and makes him practically godly in life.
along behave christian conversion death easy imagine indolence life meant moment religious soldier traveling true
The true Christian is called to be a soldier and must behave as such from the day of his conversion to the day of his death. He is not meant to live a life of religious ease, indolence and security. Make it a part of every day's business to read and meditate on some portion of God's Word. Private means of grace are just as needful every day for our souls as food and clothing are for our bodies.
character men heaven
What could an unsanctified man do in Heaven, if by any chance he got there? Let that question be fairly looked in the face and fairly answered. No man can possibly be happy in a place where he is not in his element and where all around him is not congenial to his tastes, habits and character.

Look to the cross, think of the cross, meditate on the cross, and then go and set your affections on the world if you can.

christian religious teaching

Let it be a settled principle ...that men's salvation, if saved, is wholly of God; and that man's ruin, if lost, is wholly of himself.
thinking devil looks
If I never spoke of hell, I should think I had kept back something that was profitable, and should look on myself as an accomplice of the devil.
