The guys take more pride in this game, take pride in going out and working hard at practice and enjoying being around each other. It will be a whole different environment, a whole different game this year.

I just remember they whipped our behinds. I knew it was going to happen before the game even started. I think most guys did, too. A lot of guys didn't care. They thought, 'Oh, we're just playing Iowa.' It felt like they didn't deserve to be here anyway.

At that time, I don't think it was humbling at all. Like I said, guys didn't care. You didn't care if you got whipped. Nobody was embarrassed after the game. It wasn't anything. Guys were just ready to get it over with, go home and start a new year.

Because of the way we practice, there will be a lot better effort. Guys are relaxed, they're rested up and they're going at it.
bowl came game seniors since win won
We haven't won a bowl game since 2001, so I think it's an important game for the program, and an important game for the seniors just to go out with a win. We came in with a (bowl) win and haven't won one since.

You knew it hurt him, but you could never tell a difference. Vernell is not a guy who really gets down. He's a fighter.

We're taking them seriously. Everybody on the team has a different attitude. The way guys work. The way guys hang out together.

We were not responsible. We were just crazy. Crazy kids. They really didn't care about the game. ... Nobody was embarrassed after the game.

We were down in the hole, and they were riding high a little bit. I guess they overlooked us.

We've always been known as a soft program, a finesse program -- all about speed, whatever. We're just trying to go out and show everybody this isn't the Gators that you're used to looking at. We're trying to show them that we're really tough and that we're really going to go out and play.

We're just like the media. We gossip about things, and we always wondered what kind of receiver or tight end he would be. He's been great.

We talk about it a lot. It has been a rough road. But if we end up with at least a 10-win season, it will have been worth it.
came cheering crutches hurt played snapped tunnel
When he got hurt, I was devastated. I played in a daze for awhile. But when he came out of the tunnel on crutches and started cheering for us, it snapped me out of it. That's how much he means.
