air badly balls miss nba poor range rectify seen shooting team
We have to rectify so many things on offense. We're a high-turnover team now, which is No. 1. Secondly, we're a very poor shooting team from all areas, from 2-point range, 3-point range and the free-throw line. We shoot more air balls now on the perimeter than any team ? I've never seen any NBA team miss as badly as we do.
defense missing shots
It was part defense and probably them missing shots they couldn't make.
bring chance game great intangible knowing level package respect team
If we play great and bring an intangible package that you need, and we play well, then we'll be right in the game. Our respect level for (the Mavericks) is great, yet my respect level for my team is high. Knowing that if we do play really well that we'll be in the game, and if you're in the game you have a chance to win.
best explain player road
You can't explain it. He's the best road player in the league.
best build compensate complement guys obviously strengths stretch tracy trying
We're obviously trying to build around Tracy and Yao, and just as important as getting those two guys has been to get guys we feel best complement their strengths and compensate for their non-strengths, ... We still have a long way to go to get the roster we need to take us where we want to be taken. By no stretch do we feel we're there yet.
ball gotten organized played shooting timely trying
He played well. He hasn't been shooting the ball well, so it was timely he made shots. I think he's consistently gotten better in trying to keep us organized offensively.
ball defense explain hard home inside played playing presence shots super throw tough trying
(McGrady) played super hard today. He just doesn't make (shots) at home like he makes on the road. I can't explain it. We don't have an inside presence right now (without Yao) to throw the ball into to keep the defense honest. He's trying to make a lot of tough shots while playing big minutes.
advantage change coach conflict gaining interest itself league lose lottery position served took
The league itself should not put any coach or any organization in position that you're better served to lose than win. That's why the change in the lottery was great. They took that conflict of interest away. They need to take the conflict away from the Clippers gaining financially and with home-court advantage by losing.
aggressive continue second
Yao was much more aggressive in the second half, but he's has to continue to come up big for us like this for us to win.
good last lose loved results round team year
As much as I loved the team last year and still do, when you lose in the first round (of the playoffs) you have to make some moves. It's all about the results we get. Hopefully, we're going to get some good results.
ball basket chance close defense efficient harder missed near offensive percent shoots shots transition translate
When Yao shoots the ball more, we have a chance to be a more efficient offensive team. That's because for the most part he's going to shoot 50 percent and above, and get to the free-throw line, and close shots near the basket even missed are harder to translate into transition points, which allows you to get your defense set.
best chance efficient energy guys obviously starts team tonight tracy
It starts always with the two best guys (Yao and McGrady) and their energy level. Tracy McGrady obviously was very efficient tonight and when he is efficient, we as a team have a better chance of being efficient.
best direct efficient energy good guys incredible obviously prior result shape starts type
It starts always with our two best guys and their energy level. McGrady obviously was very efficient tonight. Yao is a long way away from being in the type of shape he was in prior to his injury. But that he is in as good of shape as he is in is a direct result of his incredible dedication.
beat great mentally physically quality teams
For us to beat quality teams like that, we're going to have to be mentally and physically tougher. They've got a great team, and they play well.
