future hold took turn turned
I took a hold of him to see how much he would turn offthinking of the future mile-and-a-halfand he turned off fine,
cuts hope learning loose reason room second shook shown time top
He shook loose at the top of the stretch, but that was the second time he lugged in. But he's young, and we hope it's just a learning process. He has shown he has a lot of room for improvement, especially if he cuts out the two-year-old stuff. But he is very unique, and part of the reason is because he has a whole lot of ones (victories).
horse
He was the most genuine, charismatic horse I've been on in my life.
expect explosions grueling type
I don't think you can expect those explosions you get in shorter races. It's more of a long, grueling type of racing.
asked good lack lined looked month people sale worked
I'm not really surprised. If you had asked me a month ago, I would have said I didn't have those expectations, but it all worked out and as people lined up on the horse, he looked like he could potentially be a sale topper. You don't know before you come to the sale what's going to happen, but he's been as good as we've had all year. It was a lack of nothing wrong. He just did everything right. There were no problems.
confident felt front horses knew moment strong turned
I really felt confident the moment I turned up the (backstretch). I knew I had the horses in front of me; I felt pretty strongly. I know Borrego comes with a strong run, but I was actually pretty confident all around.
chance hit
I didn't think I had a chance to hit the board.
great last
If it is my last one, it's a great way to go out.
access areas grim heard
There's a lot of areas we haven't been able to get access to but from what we've heard it's a pretty grim picture.
eat either guess hay hero
You're either a hero or a goat. I guess I'll go eat hay tonight.
funny ground losing settled
The funny thing is, he went out, so I was losing more ground the first 50 or 60 yards. But once I got him going, he settled down. He was pretty relaxed.
figure sun trying
Everyone was trying to figure out what Disco's Sun was doing, and it put me in the catbird seat.
alabama closer competition distance drop easy handled heading pace presents problem skeptical
I was skeptical heading into the Alabama because of the distance and the competition then she handled with ease. She's pretty easy to ride. She doesn't drop out the back and she could've been a little closer in the Alabama had I wanted, but I thought the pace being what it was that I would just tuck in. She presents no problem for a rider.
bit came concerned earlier fast heavy home struggled surprise
I was concerned with him lugging in there and 'would he rate'? He struggled a bit with the track, but it didn't surprise me. He is a big, heavy horse. He came home a little slow, but they went pretty fast in the earlier part.
