I've never worked with a contract and feel very confident in my abilities and skills to do this job. If the board would decide they do not want me here tomorrow, I would probably be under the same impression of not wanting to be here. I just don't see that happening.

I think it's extremely important that we make sure the companies and businesses already here are getting our full support. I am making sure my door is always open to them. I will do whatever I can to make sure they remain a viable part of this community.

I helped the company set up plants all over the region. In doing so, I made a lot of good contacts and learned a great deal about economic development. I think one of my main attributes is that I am not in any way politically connected in this area. I have no hidden agendas, no favors to return. I can bring a fresh set of eyes and ears to the position. All I am wanting to do is make sure the economy here flourishes, jobs are kept here and more are developed.

Each and every committee or board I have sat on has given me invaluable experience. The contacts I have made enable me to go out into the community and feel very comfortable. While I am still new, I feel that I can help make a difference in a very positive way for the community and those who live and work here.

We need to keep in mind that there are work forces in those communities that would travel to this county for a job. Those residents travel here for other things, like shopping and entertainment, so it's very important that we keep the dollars they are spending here. We have so much to offer those communities and we want to keep attracting them.
