complete five games quite team
Quite frankly, we've probably had five complete games all year. We've been a team of lapses.
absolutely
Marcus was magnificent and Rudy was absolutely terrific.
changed emotion express freshman game jeff sudden
All of a sudden the game changed when Jeff Adrien got in it. That was something for a freshman to express his emotion the way he did.
bob credit deserved foreign hard incredible machine outside scoring seen took
Elvin Hayes was such an incredible scorer that it was hard for me to believe, ... I had seen Bob Pettit do it to some degree, he was 6-foot-9, but Elvin Hayes took it to a different level. He was a scoring machine who went outside at 6-foot-9 and that was so foreign to what we knew. He never really got the credit he deserved for what he accomplished.
awful beat dome lead losses mainly played poor team
It was one of the most disappointing losses we've had in an awful long time, mainly because we got off to such a poor start. We played like a team that had a 25-point lead at the Carrier Dome and then beat a team by 23 at our place.
asked best emerging offense people recently took watching
People have asked me a lot about Marcus and even Rudy this season. I have said that Rudy is emerging every day and we're watching something beautiful. And with Marcus, I said recently he is the best passer I've ever coached. I think he took offense because now he's had back-to-back 20-point games.
felt game games happy meeting next opportunity played six team
On the way down here, it was just a really happy team. They really felt they played well. ... It's going to be a different kind of game (tonight). Over the next 24 hours, at the team meeting (Sunday) and at the shoot-around (today), we'll get an opportunity to really tell them. With only six games to go, there is significance to the game.
college separates wiped
The thing that separates college basketball, many times, is just the emotion. I know I'm wiped out.
allowed double fine game outside physical
The game was allowed to be physical on the outside through double teams, that's just the way the game evolved. Inside, we would have been fine with that.
games hope ready row three tough
It's a bear. Three games in a row that will all be tough for different reasons. I just hope we're ready to go and we get through that.
basketball game good people sudden takes three
People had the misconception that if you have three 6-10 kids, all of a sudden you have a good basketball team. The game takes instinct.
anyone good league time wants
It's an important time because no one wants anyone else to get off to a 7-0 start. The league is off to a good start.
anybody continues court harder johnson plays
Marcus Johnson continues to make who is going to play at that 'three' or 'two' a little more of a struggle. He plays harder than anybody else on the court just about.
basketball magic name nobody
The name has magic to it. There's nobody in basketball that when I say the name Gavitt they don't respond.
