coming game god minutes next played score thank
Coming off a Villanova game where he played 13 minutes and didn't score a point, I started him the next game to tell him we've got to get him back. For us to win, we've got to get him back. ... Thank God we got them back.
knee second
Denham's knee was stiffening up so we didn't play him in the second half.
basketball best god guy playing roadblocks stayed thank winning
Denham is playing the best basketball of his life. This is the guy we had while winning the Maui Invitational. Denham had some roadblocks but thank God he stayed with it all season. But that's the story of this season. It's all about who can persevere.
arguably best career great performance
Denham had arguably the best performance of his career at a great time.
game thinking
And the Elvin Hayes-Jabbar game at the Astrodome, that was something I was thinking about for days.
beat gap seed
A No. 16 seed is going to beat a No. 1. The gap is closing.
excited hope kids lose respect team time won
Any team that's won 20 games, we're going to have respect for. They have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. But you know what? We have a lot to gain, too. We're really excited about it. I like this time of year. I hope my kids like it as much as I do.
respect team won
Any team that's won 20 games, we're going to have respect for.
changed duke far happy incredibly overall
As far as we're concerned, we're incredibly happy to be a No. 1 seed. Obviously, I don't think anything we did changed us from being the overall No. 1. I think it's what Duke did.
brown effort game gave guys offensive poorest shocked state witnessed
They shocked us into such a state that I witnessed our poorest offensive effort in my 20 years at Connecticut. Albany gave us everything they had. I hugged (Albany coach) Will Brown after the game and I don't know Will Brown. I told him that, 'Your guys are special.' And they were.
aspect good guard kids pass seniors three
They pass exceptionally well. They have three seniors and they have very good big people. The most disappointing aspect was that one-on-one, our two 6-10 kids could not guard their two 6-7 kids.
gave played shot
They gave us fits. I don't think we shot well, but we played well.
basketball gave prouder stood tremendous
They gave us a tremendous shot. We withstood it and stood up to it. I couldn't prouder of my basketball team.
couple gave good kids supposed wondering
They gave us a good old-fashioned butt-whipping. We were god-awful. For the first time, I'm wondering if a couple of our kids are as good as they're supposed to be.
