came says schedule
What the schedule says is what you do. I think we came out of it pretty good, all things considered.
catch speed
We're going to speed Duff up and get him some at-bats. We've just got to catch up a little bit.
change landscape perception
With what we have here right now, ... you'll see the landscape change and be better than what the perception is.
center chris defensive eight games
We know what kind of defensive center fielder Chris Duffy is. To get him going offensively, it's not going to do us a lot of good, eight games in, to keep going back and forth.
hitters pitches
We know he's very capable. He has the pitches to get major-league hitters out.
credit played weekend win
We did everything we could do to try to win the game, but you have to give credit where credit's due: They played very well all weekend long.
beginning direction guys seeing themselves
We're seeing some of these guys beginning to escalate themselves in the direction that you want to see them going.
catcher goes needs push wear
It didn't make any sense to push it. A catcher goes through a lot of wear and tear. He needs to be 100 percent.
needs spring takes time work
Zach's doing what he needs to do to get his work done. It takes time -- that's all part of spring training.
command consistency course delivery fifth fourth good hurdle maintain needs next overcome throughout
He was real good early, and then his command wavered some there in the fourth and fifth inning. The next hurdle that he needs to overcome is to maintain the consistency of his delivery throughout the course of his start. He's making strides.
ability area command innings latter needs pitches pleased progress strikes throw
He really understands that he needs command and the ability to throw strikes when he pitches in the latter innings of games. I'm very pleased with the progress he has made in that area this spring.
leg plan responds time until
That's the plan right now. But until we see how the leg responds in game-type situations, there is nothing that is completely certain. But there has to be a plan. And for the time being, that is the plan.
muddled
It's muddled. To be as muddled as it is now is ... intriguing.
compares dodgers earlier higher jason oscar percentage plus recent starters
DePodesta said Cruz's recent play compares favorably with his earlier years. His .783 on-base plus slugging percentage is higher than that of Dodgers starters Cesar Izturis, Jason Phillips, Jason Repko, Oscar Robles, Jose Valentin and Werth.
