We're going to try a couple of other things this week,
We felt like we had some other players that fit the role for us and do a lot of things for us. It was a competitive thing.
We're going to have to work our way through that, ... It's going to be a big topic of discussion. We've got Chris here with a short work week, so we've got to do a real good job of evaluating that.
We appreciate Patrick's contributions during his time here with the Washington Redskins. Through this entire process we always wanted what was best for Patrick and in working with him we feel this is where he wants to be. We wish all the best to him and his family and his future with the New York Jets.
The problem with signing our guys right now, almost none of the agents want to sign right now. They are afraid now if they go out and do a deal, they are going to get criticized for it.
There are players there that you wished you could have on your squad. . . . I had some tough conversations today,
If he didn't have the calf situation, he would have practiced, ... He played extremely well. . . . The game was very physical and he got some hits. Quarterback-wise, the odds that we can go through the year like that and keep the guy healthy. . . . I hope we can keep him healthy.
Maybe we just like winners, ... We hope some of that will carry over to the Redskins.
Maybe we just like winners. We hope some of that will carry over to the Redskins.
Our guys in the fourth quarter are fighting their guts out. I would hope that they'd start the game like that.
Our heart goes out to everybody down there, ... They've got to do whatever they've got to do. We're all praying for everybody down there. There's been a number of our players affected by it, and you just hope that somehow such a tragedy somehow we'll get that all squared away as quick as we can. So I would say whatever they've got to do, the Saints . . . I just feel bad for them.
From Mark's standpoint, when he was playing last year we weren't as good certainly as we are now, ... I think we're better now. And hopefully that will prove out to be the case.
It's going to be a big topic of discussion.
It's a real concern, ... It's a problem. We've got to get it corrected because you won't win games up here turning the ball over and I'd still say those are two areas where we have not showed the kind of improvement I'd like -- turning the ball over and penalties. So it's something for a real focus from now until game time. In the regular season, we've got to try to find something to fix it.
