It looked like Randy was saying, 'Yeah, changing of the guard, but I'm not done yet.
I didn't know what to expect going in. But nothing gets by these fans. Bernie didn't know whether to take a bow (in the eighth inning). He looked over at me and I gave him a nod.
He kept the ball off the fat of the bat really well. He lived up to his scouting report. But it comes down to being able to do what you want to do, and it looked like he was able to do that.
He's really responded about like Jeter did 10 years ago. When Derek would make an error or make a play on the base paths which wasn't the right play, it never really affected him ... It looked like a breaking ball away from him and he went out and got it and was able to rake it over the fence. That was huge.
It looked like he had an easy time, so it doesn't surprise me. He looked very fluid, he didn't force anything and he threw a lot of strikes. He was competitive, and that was the question I had.
The first four innings were really good, then it looked like he was elevating the ball a little. That's where they hurt him.
Every time the Yankees go to spring training, you have to be thinking World Series. I don't think that's a disrespect to any other team. It's just understanding the pressure that goes with playing here.
The Yankees want to get Brian done, ... I'd be disappointed if Brian left.
If it rains, that's one thing. Now if it doesn't stop -- then we've got an issue.
I didn't say we had to stop there,
My only concern was that he'd alienate himself from the rest of the club but I didn't see that happen.
They are a thunder. They can put winning streaks together before you blink your eye.
I don't really know the nature of it. The fact that he hit, that's a good sign for us. Hopefully it's just something that's connected with Spring Training.
I'm very comfortable working with Brian and I certainly hope that they find a way to get it done.
