along arizona attend attractive family games growing heart knew offers season sort state though tickets watch
My family had season tickets to Arizona State games, so I would attend all those games, but I would also try to watch as many BYU games as possible. It's become sort of like the 'Rudy' story, growing up and going to BYU. Even though there were attractive offers from a lot of Pac-10 schools, in my heart I knew all along that this was where I wanted to be, that this was the right place for me.
losing stand
Losing is frustrating, especially when you're up. I can't stand losing.
adjust ball certain defense dictates five guys plays receiver route running specific throws whereas whoever
So many of these plays are set plays, where it's five guys running their specific route and the quarterback throws the ball to whoever the defense dictates is going to get the ball. Whereas in the past, it was each receiver would do certain things to adjust his route to try to get open.
Obviously, we're disappointed in ourselves, because we know we can be a high-powered offense.
knowing stuff
We were confident, knowing we'd come back. I thought we were going to win it. Stuff happens.
carry dues expect feeling focused football intense knowing needed paid pay player players supposed team work
There's a big mind-set difference. The mind-set comes from the way you work and the way you practice. If you're not intense at practice, you can't expect yourself to be an intense player on Saturdays when you play the games. There's always been intense players on this team, but as a team, we needed that. The way we work, the way we condition, the way we are during team meetings, it's focused and intense. And I know it's going to carry over to the football field. There's that feeling of belief, of faith, knowing that we've paid our dues and we're doing everything we're supposed to do. It's going to pay off.
box drum outside warren
As a percussionist, Warren was really a pioneer, one of the first to think outside the box of the old drum corps.
believe depend hard hard-work perform prepare purpose stop trust work
That's the purpose for the hard work in the offseason, ... So we can be comfortable now. I wanted to prepare myself so, on Saturday, I can be confident. You want to go out there and think, 'If I perform the way I should, they can't stop us.' I feel that way about my teammates, too. I believe in them - I want them to believe in me, to trust me, to know, when they look at me, they can depend on me.
offense spread throwing using weapons
If you've got an offense where you're only throwing to two people, you're not using all your weapons like you should. It's called a spread offense, not because the formations are spread, but because the ball's being spread all over the place.
job
I know I have to do my job for us to win,
ask bad cares football glory lives loves people program team tradition type wants
He's so focused, so disciplined, ... And he doesn't just ask it of us, he lives it himself. He wants it so bad for this program. He's not here for the glory of being 'the BYU football coach.' He's here because he loves this program and he wants to see all of us succeed. He cares about the tradition of winning. He's the type of person that a lot of people on this team want to be like when they're older.
knew
I immediately knew -- it's got to be downtown.
building came enhances everywhere fit knew loft people popping saw though visit
I came down here to visit the area.... I saw all the building going on, and I knew it was popping off. What we have enhances the loft home, though people have come from everywhere to visit. But we fit in here.
