calm couple course last problem
All indications from the MRI are that it's nothing serious. You've got to let it calm down. He had that tendon problem last September, and of course it healed. It just flared up on him. ... In about a couple weeks, it'll calm down. So it's nothing major.

At the end of a long year, we played two of the top teams pretty darn good.

I think that's common knowledge. Maybe not, but it's going to be soon. Great experience -- they love to work and everybody gets along. You'll run into some staffs where everybody doesn't see eye-to-eye and there's a little separation. With this group, everybody has a good time together and we're not afraid to disagree.

I don't think we'd have any other choice really. Those guys in the Minor Leagues are stretched out a little bit. We'll see.

I think (sending McGowan to Triple-A) would do him good because of the way the bullpen is stacked up right now. We're not coming down here with him eliminated (from the picture). But if we were to keep him with us, it would have to be a vital role.

I don't see him playing the rest of the year. It doesn't make any sense. Of course he's disappointed. But he understands that it's late.

He buries that fastball in on the right-handed hitters and when he gets that slider going you can't do anything with it.

I think he may be a little tired. This is his first year doing it and what's affecting him now is his location. Usually you don't see it in velocity, you see it in location.

It would be a big blow if it's something serious. We're hoping not. But I mean, even if it's nothing serious it's going to set him back. We don't know for how long. I mean, we're pulling for the kid. And if it's something serious, then we've got to make adjustments like we did last year.

It's big, it's the second time it's happened to him. Nothing you can do about it, you've got to move on. . . . He was throwing good, he was throwing hard.
