Is there one or two who wish they could have started in her spot?. They haven't told me, and they haven't shown it. I think they've done the job to accept her in the most positive of ways. I've had teams in the past that would have made it very difficult here for her. And that's not the case with this team.

Her (Schmidt's) offense has never been enough to win games, but her defense has set the tone for what we needed to do at Southeast. It was man-to-man, pressure defense and the kids never tired.

districts division exciting hard hustling six won year
It's exciting to be in the championship. I won six districts in a row. I had at least one Division 1 player. This year I don't. I have a hard hustling and working team. They just work, work, work.

I wasn't pleased at all. We did not play well in the second half. We refused to run a half-court offense, and it really cost us.
excelled forced good role
She was forced into a role that she not only accepted, but excelled at. I can't say enough good things.

He was a leader, a good person. He represented what a student-athlete should be, played and practiced hard.

It's made us better. It's made us deeper. I've got kids coming off the bench now that fight harder than I think they would have fought if she hadn't been here.

We'd like to have been in the championship game, but we won two out of three and at times we played good basketball. We were disappointed but hopefully this gives us some momentum for next week's conference play.
