bruce stay
There are some things between Bruce and I that will stay between Bruce and I and the way things transpired during the 2002 World Cup,
beat draw longer stepped struggle teams win
We used to struggle in the past, win one and draw a bunch. We have really stepped up, and we're no longer scraping by with 0-0s and 1-0s. We can go in and beat teams 3-0.
clean combine goals score win
We know we can score goals and we know we can keep it clean in the back. You combine those two things and you know you are going to win a lot of games.
good proud teams win
Good teams win one-nil. We did that and that's what we're most proud of.
born castle germany lived london madrid moved people sink somewhere
They just think it's normal, ... When they go back somewhere and tell people they were born in London and then moved to Madrid and then we moved back to London and then we moved to Germany and lived in a castle for a while, it'll be interesting when they look back on it. That's when it will really sink in.
antique living needs
It's like an antique car. There's always something that needs to be done. That's the only real drawback: You're living in a 1,000-year old property.
air bruce came cleared feeling given good national position proud time
I wanted to at least go out feeling good about my time with the national team. Bruce and I cleared the air and I came in, and I've not given up the position since. I'm proud of that.
chance huge time
Any time you have a chance to clinch a berth in the World Cup, it's a huge game.
soccer football art
The final true artform in what we're talking about is the goal itself. And for us to try and stop that from happening, we're kind of the anti-art.
ready travesty has-beens
That's what goalkeeping is all about. It's really having nothing to do at times, and then having to make sure you are concentrating and ready to make the save when called upon. Going in 1-0 down would have been a travesty.
guy littles ranking
Maybe some guys were looking at that ranking a little bit too seriously.
home winning games
Not just Mexico. Columbus should be the home of any big game. There's absolutely no doubt about that.To be able to play in front of a decidedly pro-American crowd for both Mexico games, and to win them both 2-0, is fantastic for everybody.
sports celebration ifs
Like any sport, if you can clinch it sooner, clinch it sooner. It just makes the celebration that much sweeter.
team reality thinking
We're not going to walk into the World Cup thinking, 'Ah, you know, we beat Norway 5-0 and we beat Japan so now we're great and we're untouchable'. It's a reality check for a few guys and that's a good thing at this time so it doesn't happen on June 12 (when the U.S. team opens World Cup play against the Czech Republic).
