Any close game is a tough game. We lost to Houston last night and came in here with a little bit of an edge on us. I think we showed that a little bit. We came out with decent energy; the second half, we just didn't play well.
I can't stand these afternoon games, to tell you the truth, but I know that they're a part of our schedule. When I come in here, I just know I have to get going early and try to get the blood flowing a little bit.
A.C. was unbelievable with energy. He came in and kicked it off. When A.C. came in, the tempo just picked up immediately.
The man's putting up the level of play not just for the players who are here but for the players to come after him.
This is a huge win. We needed it more than they did and went out and played that way.
You're dealing with Eddie, who is a little quicker than Diesel. Obviously, we know he's not as powerful. We just told Eddie to play him as best he could and contest (shots). We were just helping when we could. Shaq took advantage of it at times, but for the most part we kept him in front, made him miss shots, and then drove the ball to the basket to try to get some fouls on him.
That was a good block. I mean, you all saw what you saw, but as soon as it left his hand I got it, you know. I'm sitting right here in front of you all with a win.
Giving up is very easy. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially in a rough environment when you really don't have anything to play for other than dignity.
Even though we've been losing and going through hard times, we've kept our morale up.
I don't sign anybody's checks, but you have to be committed and ready to play.
I just kind of go with the flow around here.
We have our hand on the neck of the golden goose and we're squeezing hard.
Tonight, you had a more energetic team. A team that was feistier.
Usually we get a better boost from our bench. It's been a rough 48 hours, personally. For the most part today, we withstood every blow, and then the fourth quarter came and they were a lot more aggressive.
