I am quite confident that a cease-fire can be achieved and a summit can go ahead,
If they are not able to resolve it before the summit (in September), the issue is not going to die, ... They will have to pursue it and, I hope, resolve it before we all go away for Christmas.
How this crisis is resolved will affect greatly the course of peace and security in the region and the world, ... I commend the council for acting today with purpose and resolve.
It is essential that we look at all aspects of the (oil-for-food program) and try to streamline it, improve it and let it run more efficiently and effectively,
For people who went into Iraq with only the objective of assisting the people of Iraq to be killed in such a violent and senseless manner is something that none of us will ever comprehend,
The Americans are usually very generous in assisting in other crises,
I think (the US government is) positive to our assistance from the UN and the international community ... We are prepared to do whatever we can,
If the Indonesian government ... brings those responsible to trial, there will be no need ... for the Security Council to establish a second international tribunal,
Let me say that the U.N. resolution, the recent one which was passed on Syria, does not threaten sanctions,
I had hoped that some of those with the capacity would go to the assistance of those who are in there doing the bidding of the Security Council and the U.N.,
If Iraq were to break the agreement, it would be much easier to get an agreement in the council to take military action,
Obviously we didn't get everything we wanted and with 191 member states it's not easy to get an agreement, ... All of us would have wanted more but we can work with what we have been given, and it's a step forward.
I don't think anyone can remove it from the general public's perception of how we are moving ahead with development.
I know we will not be alone. We will be happy to work with other parts of the international community to support the efforts of President Bush and his administration, the American Red Cross , and other U.S. relief organizations who have been our partners in the past,
