four points took
After they took four points from us back home, we wanted to come back and answer, which we were able to do.
excited feels loves passionate
It feels good. I think everyone is real excited about it. We weren't able to do something everyone is passionate about and loves doing.
adjustment body choice defence good guys happen huge open skate speed step teams
Here at the Joe, guys are getting used to the speed and the body positioning. Teams that can skate and have a good defence will be a step ahead. You won't have any choice to open up. But this is going to be a huge adjustment and it won't happen overnight.
adjust coaches exciting game guys hockey mind open players puck sake
It's going to be a whole different mind-set, not only for the players but for the coaches, as we try to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and for the sake of the players, coaches want to open things up. Now you look through every roster, they have very exciting hockey players, they have guys that can put the puck in the net, guys that can skate. Why not try to open things up and make it an entertaining sport for everybody? I think that's going to have to be the case.
committed guys letting opening pat time
Guys are committed to opening up the game, making it a lot more entertaining and letting guys go out and use their talents. But I don't even think we'll have it down pat by the time of the openers.
active money teams tied
Out of all the teams in our division, we were the least active because of how much money we had tied into players,
guess happened left players time
A lot of players have changed. I know (Colorado) doesn't have a lot of players left from the '90s teams. A lot of what happened was a long time ago. I guess it's a little different now.
camp coach coaching guys meant obviously time training
I don't think we're there yet. I think this is really the first time at training camp that it's meant as much as it has in a lot of years for this team. Not only the new NHL and the new rules, but obviously the new coach and the different coaching philosophy, but I think guys are getting there.
affected changes definitely free ken manager money quite step though tied
It's definitely affected us a lot, ... It kind of handcuffed Detroit. We had a lot of money tied into a lot of players. (General manager Ken Holland) had to step up and make some changes to free up some money. Even though we did, we didn't quite get enough.
gotten jump next sounds turning until wait wheels
I thought we were going to wait until the buzzer sounds after tomorrow's (Sunday) game, but the Americans have gotten a jump on us. The wheels will be turning for the next 24 hours.
hear hope word
Let's hope we don't hear the word 'trap' anymore,
everybody great guy popular wants
He's such a great guy and he wants to be there for everybody and that's what made him so popular in Detroit.
build definitely
It's something I definitely want to build on.
changes coach coaches rules
Down low, it's going to be a whole different mindset. The coaches are going to have to coach to the new rules and that's going to make for a lot of changes in philosophy.
