decision good himself joe surround tough tries
Joe tries to surround himself with good people. He relies on his staff. And yet, when there's a tough decision to be made, he makes it.
extra good hopefully influence joe stay wants
We've been out there, doing some extra work, every other day this spring. He's a good kid; he listens. Joe wants me to stay on him. It's probably something I'll be doing all season. Hopefully I can have a good influence on him.
everybody farm front good kid lose office payroll somebody teams
Let's not kid ourselves, when you have good players, it makes everybody look good -- players, manager, front office. The other thing is depth. That's what big payroll teams have. If they lose somebody, they've got somebody else. They don't go down to their farm system. That's a big difference.
baseball coaching good hands joe manager third thoughts whoever yankees
No, not at all. Whoever replaces Joe Torre has got their hands filled. He's probably been as good a manager as there's ever been in baseball for a long, long time. My thoughts right now are coaching third base for the Yankees in 2006.
bring decision good great guys himself joe lets people quality since spring surround tough tries
A lot of guys say, 'I'm not going to bring that many guys in that have managed,' but Joe tries to surround himself with good people. I think the people we've got are quality people, and Joe lets us do our thing. Being around Joe since spring training, you can see why he's such a great manager. He relies on his staff. And yet, when there's a tough decision to be made, he makes it.
came definitely good heard kid lazy learn needs seen single wants word
What Robbie needs to learn is to concentrate every single pitch, every single inning. That will come in time. He's a good kid and he wants to learn, that's encouraging. He is definitely not lazy. That's one word I heard used about him when I came here -- lazy -- but I haven't seen it.
chance good wants
He has a chance to be something special. He's a good kid, and he wants to be good. He wants to get better.

rest run sign stop
(Johnny) Damon and (Derek) Jeter won't need much coaching. They know how to run the bases. The rest of them will need a stop sign now and then.
account boss hot mean
You'll be on the hot seat. You don't like it, don't take the job. Everybody's got a boss -- I don't mean that 'The Boss.' Everybody's got a higher-up that you have to account for, and that's the way it is.
terrible
That was a terrible call. A terrible call,
far thinks tough
I don't think it's going to be as tough as everyone thinks it's going to be as far as the atmosphere.
