against allow anybody ball chance cost court faster game onto rebounds stop transition
We have to get our game onto the court and not play into their hands. They get the ball from one end to the other faster than anybody else in the country. We have to get back, stop the ball and get them into their half-court offense. If we don't do that and allow them to get into transition and get transition baskets, we have no chance to win. If we do stop them, that's the key. We have to get the long rebounds which cost us against Houston.
learned mentally mistakes played stretch team throughout tough tougher
I thought this was the most mentally tough we've played down the stretch and I think we learned from the mistakes that we've made throughout the year. ... We were the tougher team down the stretch.
crashed pole program steve telephone
If I crashed into a telephone pole and (assistant coach) Steve Barnes was coach, the program would be fine.
conference difference winning
Look, UTEP was 11-3 in the conference for a reason. They had a lot to do in the difference in winning and losing. UTEP is a tournament-type team.
program time year
I know this program is 100 times better than at this time a year ago,
sick
Beasley was sick and probably should not have played. But he did and that was huge.
dagger looked played time tremendous
Even when we played it right, and played it hard, they made some tremendous shots. Every time we looked like we were going to get over the hump, they put a dagger in us.
coached eventually fastest free game might ranked team throws turned won
That's the fastest team I've ever coached against. They might eventually be ranked No. 1. I didn't think the game was won by 17 points; I thought it was closer. I think that if we could have made some free throws that we could have turned the corner.
fourth program tough
I've never had a program - and this is my fourth one - that simulates this. We've had a tough go of it.
hurting level locker
The have really come to my level when we lose. They're really, really hurting in that locker room.
builder next nice program turnaround
It was a big win. A program turnaround win. It was a nice builder for next year. We're going to be good.
buying early program
He's buying into our program and how he should play the game, and that's promising. He was very contentious early on, and he still has his moments, but he's learning.
earned found handed
I'll tell you what, the most important thing was we found a way to win, and it wasn't handed to us, we earned it.
beat
This was a mismatch. We could play them 100 times, and we'd never beat them one time. We just wouldn't. That's just the way it is.
