encouraged experience gets match nerves nice tight whenever
I was really encouraged by how the first set went, ... and at the same time, I got a really tight set under my belt. You get nerves whenever a match gets that close, so it was nice to experience that again.
coming expect experience happy held matches matter played test winning
I'm very happy to be here winning the title, ... No matter how much experience or how long you have played you never really know what to expect after coming back from an injury. I really wanted to come in here and kind of test my back and play matches and see how everything held up.
erratic match nearly point points quite returns
I don't feel at any point of the match that I really had any rhythm. I don't think I got nearly as many returns in today. ... It was a much more erratic match, where the points were just going fast. I didn't know quite what was going to happen.
gets happy match played player type
I was happy to get her in the first match because she's the type of player who gets better as tournaments go on. I played well.
brought coming enjoyed match matches minds people seem sorry sticks time touched whatever
I had people coming up all the time and even now they are still and they seem very touched by what happened. I don't know if it's because they feel sorry for me or they really enjoyed the match or whatever it may be. But for some reason, that match sticks out more in fan's minds than other matches that they've ever brought up to me.
expect match played tough wimbledon
Amelie and I played such a tough, tough match at Wimbledon that I expect another one tomorrow,
beginning compete consistent forward game good looking matches obviously playing predicted trying week win
I wouldn't have necessarily predicted that at the beginning of the week, ... I didn't know how my game would be. Obviously I am a consistent performer, but the way everything has kind of panned out it's been a good week for me, just trying to win matches and trying to be out there and win and compete when I don't feel like I am playing my best, and looking forward to another opportunity.
balls bit consistent felt match rhythm top
As the match went on, ... I felt like I was getting better rhythm and on top of the balls ? and being a little bit more consistent with my shots.
biggest double fault gone hit matches matter miss practice rhythm scared serve
I can tell in the motion, ... Sometimes you can double fault and miss serve, but hit it really well. I just feel like it's just a rhythm thing. Hopefully, the more I serve and the more I practice it and the more I do it in matches it'll come back. It's one of my biggest weapons. I'm not scared that it's gone away. It just is a matter of me being able to hit it more.
bizarre extra feeling hit knew match pride walking
I knew before the match started that I was in. It was a bizarre feeling walking out. It was hard. There are no ranking points, no extra money, nothing like that. That's a shame. But when I started losing, pride hit me.
committed course fact finish focus good grand matches mean mine mission proud season slam title top win year
It's not a mission of mine to end the year No.1. I know if I win everything I have a very good chance, but I just want to focus on the matches I have to win and the tournaments that I'm committed to for the remainder of this year. Of course I'd take another Grand Slam title over the No.1 ranking any day, but I am proud of the fact that I'll probably finish another season at least in the Top Three. That's no mean feat.
ball balls bit consistent either felt hitting match played playing rhythm second top
On the second set, I felt like I was playing well and hitting the ball well, ... First set, I just don't think either of us played all that well. ... But as the match went on, I felt like I was getting much better rhythm and on top of the balls and being a little bit more consistent with my shot.
bizarre close feeling finally hit knew match pride walking
It was a bizarre feeling walking out because I knew before the match I was in, ... There was really nothing for me to play for. When I got close to losing, finally the pride hit me and I got going.
closer cocky few hard matches normally relative seems sound stepping top women
It seems like the top women are really stepping up and have been getting through with relative ease. It's hard to sound too cocky about that. I think normally there's a few more closer matches in there.
