The homeless situation is bad and getting worse as we have more hurricanes displacing people. We could live with things as they are now or give people an opportunity to turn their lives around.

I think they were being financially cautious and I understand that, but I also think when you do social services you have a responsibility to take calculated risks, ... I don't think that you should walk away from grant money on the table.

Administrators for those grants can literally come here and see where the needs are and apply funds to things we need immediately.

The memories that they will take away of the need and their own ability to make a difference one person at a time is what is really important. To me, that's the gift that they receive back . . . along with the awareness that they can make a difference.

These young boys are going to be middle-aged men. They're going to pay for his life with their youth.

What breaks my heart about these clients is that so many of them go unnoticed.

We literally have homeless people dying under bridges and in wooded areas.
