I talked to Gerry and told him that I wanted to be a mother. We thought that maybe it would be faster if it was done in Peru. But it's a very sad thing when you go to another country. You don't just see older homeless people in the city. You see children, begging. It breaks my heart.

We were only authorized to adopt two children by the government. But the three of them were sisters. We didn't want to break them up and people didn't usually want to adopt three children at once. So we went down there crossing our fingers and hoping they would allow us to bring them all back.
