We're experimenting, and I'm already looking at the tournament. Carolina will definitely be playing a lot of singles, she's played quite well.

We're not an outdoor team, obviously; we're an indoor team. Up here in the Northeast, we're a little more subdued. I wanted them to see an atmosphere that's loud, kind of like a basketball arena. Everybody is shouting and yelling and screaming, which the team isn't used to.

She's very steady and can hit the ball hard. But the most important thing about Ashley is that she just hates to lose.

Ashley was playing a girl that was just irritating her. She was saying things and stalling. I told her the only way she is going to lose is by letting the girl get to her.

Katie, her stress fractures, even though she is able to play, by the end of two days of playing, she's really sore and her mobility is really affected; same thing for Victoria with her arm. We need to have some other people come up in singles and contribute.

I'm trying to convince them to change their game in certain situations. When the occasion arises and the score is tied, I'm trying to get them to stay focused and positive and hang in there with a lot of fight.

If you're playing a match and all of a sudden somebody gets a serious injury, you start to think that this match isn't really that important when compared to somebody's face. It's scary; that's the first time we've had that happen. It's tough to play, because your mind is on your fallen teammate.

God only knows the player with the most determination and fight is Katie, and seeing her go down early because she can't move is tough on everybody. It really affects (the team).

It's more than hitting hard; you have to find what the opponent can and cannot do and exploit that. I see them in the last three or four months as more accepting of my coaching.
midwest realize seen starting taste teams
We've never seen these Midwest teams before and we're starting to realize that we can play with them and even take them now that we've had a taste of them.

We're playing for the team, playing for the school. The nerves are flaring right now, I want everyone to get in there, go in and play for the team. Understand that everyone has a part to play, it's getting us ready for where we were last season.

We set many goals for ourselves this year, and one of those was to beat Yale. We just wanted it that badly and we fought.

We've done well with adversity, and we've done well playing with a woman short. We're older and we're better, and we have higher expectations.

When we came away with this one, we learned more about ourselves. Its not just about talent and work, it's about how much fight you have in you on that particular day.
