We also understand that the percentage points and the rankings can change weekly. What we have to do is concentrate on winning. That's the only thing we have control over. It's only October, and what we want to do is to be one of the top two teams in December.

There are a lot of rewards for winning, and one that you dream about is to get a National Championship ring. They've had trips to the White House, some have been on Oprah and the celebration was wonderful, but this pretty much puts closure to last year's team.

When you're 1-10 it's a hurtful period. It's not who makes fun of you because you feel worse about yourself. It's because someone gave you a chance to run their program, and you aren't running it very well. That's what you're proud of for Texas, that they've asked you to do something and you've gotten it to this point.

Reggie Bush is like an instant highlight film. It's fun to watch him. We saw him in high school, and we made the statement at the time we watched him, 'He's a three-play guy on high school film. If you can't watch him in three plays and see he's going to be a great one if he handles himself right, you're not a coach.' He was a three-play guy.

If you're good enough to finish where you want to, and that's to win all your games, you'd rather start high because it's a lot harder now to come from the bottom to the top than it used to be. If you're out of the top 10 and some other teams have good seasons, you can have a great year like Auburn did and not have a chance to win it all. So there's no doubt that it's more important. I wish we started polls in October. Since we do not, I'd rather be rated high.

He is so hard on himself because he's such a great competitor. But I think he has a chance. If he just keeps playing with the attitude that he is right now, he'll be a great pro player.
