Sir Malcolm Henry Arnold, CBEwas an English composer. His output of works features music in many genres, including a cycle of nine symphonies, numerous concertos, concert works, chamber music, choral music and music for brass band and wind band. Thrilled to be honoured by the ISM and to be joining such an eminent list of members who have received the Distinguished Musician Award.
Although, I am proud of all my Symphonies as they all have something special to say, my particular favourite is the Fifth. As the great Mahler expert Donald Mitchell said that if Mahler had written another Symphony, it would have been my Fifth!
