When the guild was first founded, it was more social in a way, although they did things on a big scale to make money. One thing they did: They wrote to movie stars and had on the stage an auction. Like a scarf from somebody and a shoe from somebody else.

There were volunteers who would go to that theater at, say, 9 o'clock in the morning and work upstairs on the third floor. They were so devoted that they would stay for the evening performance.
