If you don't sign those guys on signing day and another team does, they will have a much better chance of having them in one semester from now. It's not a binding situation. It's a relationship thing.
If you look at him as a fifth-year senior who's both a leader and a quarterback, I'd say he's doing a really good job. If you look at him as a first-year starter, he's doing an unbelievable job. I don't know where we would be without him.
It's been one of those years where not many people expected much of us. There weren't many guys getting all kinds of preseason accolades, maybe Max Jean-Gilles a little bit,
It's always tough on those guys. Its just not easy to stop doing something you have done as long as you can remember.
It'll be more important for next year's class. You're in the first year of an eight-year contract rather than the fourth year of an eight-year contract. There is a huge difference in those two things.
It looked like he could have had 10 more yards.
It was a heck of a ball game. Unfortunately we dug ourselves a big hole. West Virginia did a phenomenal job of jumping on us early, running the ball extremely well and took advantage of our turnovers. When we were down 28 I didn't know if anything good was going to happen.
It wasn't as relaxing of a summer I would like. I hate it when a guy misbehaves. I hate when my own child misbehaves. The bottom line is we're dealing with kids and we're dealing with human beings, and they are going to make mistakes. That's inevitable.
It was not an indication of a changing of the guard. I just wanted to see what those guys could do.
I'm not sure about our tight end situation yet.
Everyone knows his name now, but no one knows the blockers,
Everyone knew who David Pollack was, David Greene was. National-name guys. I don't know if we have a headliner on our team. We have a bunch of guys who are playing real hard, and together we've done a nice job.
It is somewhat of a consideration, but if we think a guy is a player, we won't hold that against him. Sometimes you have a big lineman maybe who is dominating a bunch of little, bitty guys it's hard to get a feel, but there are also camps and combines and those type of things that let you get a little better look at some of these guys.
Our safety play has been outstanding. We haven't gotten too fancy, we have been able to play a good bit of zone coverage, allowing our front seven to hold up against the run.
