I am very excited about what's going to happen with D.J. Shockley, ... He is a great football player. I'm just happy for him. You know, guys can mope about the situation, or guys can decide, 'I just don't want to be here,' and take off. He didn't do that. Not only did he stay, but he thrived at Georgia. He is in great shape academically, and he has won community service awards for us. He's just a fantastic guy, a great man. He's probably the most respected player we have on the team.
Last year, they played a bunch of close games. Learning how to win doesn't happen overnight. Coach (Bobby) Johnson has done a good job of teaching that in a real methodical way.
I feel better about the defense overall today. I was getting a little concerned that things were getting a little too evenly matched. I think the defense ought to be a little ahead at this point, and the last couple times we've practiced it really hadn't been that way. But the defense really stepped it up.
I don't think we've seen him as good as he can play, and he played really good the last five or six games last year. I don't want to put any pressure on him, but he's a special guy.
Overall, it was fairly sloppily played offensively, but there was some beauty in our ability to run the ball.
Defensive guys can be, 'What the heck,' ... There was none of that. (From) coaches, there was none of that.
I don't think he's going to play defense anymore. He's going to be very valuable to us, and he has shown the ability to go deep and to catch the deep ball.
It's a great rivalry. It's a great game. They have an SEC-like stadium and fan base, so that is very much like what we're used to.
Our punt team continues to do a great job.
Guys like D. J. make this business worthwhile.
He has really come on for us. I'm confident he will do a good job.
Georgia's our home, period. That's just the way it is. I've said it since the day I got here, unless Georgia wants us to leave, this is where we're going to be.
I don't know how important it is if they are loud and jumping around. I think it is more important if they play hard and they play disciplined, and they have done that for the most part this season.
Like I told the players, it doesn't mean anything if we get whipped this week, ... We have a pretty levelheaded group of seniors who know the jury is still out on us. We know we're good. We know we have a chance to do some special things. But how good can we be? No one knows for sure. We've still got a long way to go.
