It depends on what the compensation would be. We would talk to them, of course. We'd talk about it. We wouldn't rule them out.
It goes beyond just the Eric Moulds situation. We hope something can be worked out with him. We'd like to keep him and we'll continue to make our efforts to do so.
We don't have a hard and fast price. We're still talking. I'll treat that situation as it develops, because it's a big decision.
I still think he has playing ability. But I don't think we can fill all of our other needs with the type of salary cap hit we have to take with him.
We will make every effort to retain him, every effort. Dick has expressed the same, and other coaches (here have). He's a talented player who can get better.
We want to win immediately. To say you're building is an incomplete sentence. ... You're building for a future coach and general manager.
We appreciate his efforts and wish him well in what lies ahead in his career.
When you say you're building for the future, that's an incomplete sentence. You're building for the future coach and general manager, is what you're doing.
But I've done it too. After a game is over, your emotions are right there and it's very easy to say something like, 'If some of these guys don't step up, we're going to have to make some changes.' I've then gone into the locker room and told the guys, 'I owe you an apology.
Mike surprised me with that. I just told the guys to take the rest of the day off.
Some coaches who do that are protecting an image they have, an image that they sort of like,
They say two things happen when you get older. One is you begin to forget things. And I can't remember what the other one is right now.
You need more than two receivers, believe me, in today's game. He certainly would be right in the fight for a starting position, absolutely. ... We like him.
I regret that I was not more specific in stating that I will not be serving in a coaching capacity.
