J.R.'s had a fabulous career. He's put up some great numbers. He had a great start to his career, but mine was slower. He's always been a great player.
It's a good time to start playing well, personally and collectively. Guys are starting to feel that excitement.
I think there's a part of him that cares. He's always been one of the top defensemen and he's always played so well, that I think you just take him for granted because he's so dependable and so good. But, yeah, I think more people should know about him.
Overall, it's great to get back on the ice,
Those guys are quick and they move a lot, and I think that helps us. And you can tell they're excited to be out there. It just gives us a different option.
When we have good puck possession, we're close to one another and it's all short passes and puck support, and you work your way up the ice.
We're still having squeaky-type games but we've pulled them out in the end. It's been tough to score goals, especially when you're playing on the road but we were pretty opportunistic tonight.
Whether its three, four or five seasons that I have left to play, I'm committed to making them great ones.
You have to make people pay for taking penalties. It changes the game and the way people defend you if they know that your power play is good.
You can't complain about it for us. I didn't think we'd be in that many shootouts. It's been really exciting for the players and the fans. I don't think anybody really knew how good it would be.
I've been fortunate to have been around long enough to get close to that.
It was tough. That's just what you go through. It's just part of the business, ... After it's done, you shake hands and everything's fine.
Pretty similar to 1999 and 2000, very similar.
There's a little excitement around here right now. We feel like we have a great opportunity. You can put it on paper or talk about it all you want, but you've still got to go out and get it done.
