It is difficult for me to talk to you because I really feel duped. More importantly, I feel you betrayed millions of readers ... As I sit here today, I don't know what is true, and I don't know what isn't.
Gayle and I have said for years it's a shame other people couldn't be in on the conversation sometimes. It will be about what's going on in the world, and just us talking about it the way we talk about it, as girlfriends. . . . I think that Gayle and Oprah reality radio is going to be a huge hit.
If I had kids, my kids would hate me ... They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something in my life would have had to suffer and it would've probably been them.
I was in a conversation and someone said: "You know, we were talking about the whole issue of transgender and how it has become so accepted now, and somebody said, 'You know the Oprah show, I think has had a big impact.'" I said, I don't think so. We did several transgender [shows], but we didn't do as much for transgender as I did for, say, abused kids or battered women. And they said, "But no, you started the conversation. You started the conversation and the conversation has led us to here."
Interviewing people, I don't miss that at all. I do miss kibitzing with the audience because after every show I would spend half an hour to 40 minutes talking to people.
I wanted to open the door and broaden the field, ... That allows me the opportunity to do what I like to do most, which is sit and talk to authors about their work. It's kind of hard to do that when they're dead.
Janie, to me, represents awareness of self and becoming a whole person, ... I used to be one of those women who was afraid of being full of herself. Because growing up, and even in elementary school, people would say, 'Oh, she thinks she's so full of herself.'
When it comes to what happened, and didn't have to happen, to children, it's pretty overwhelming, ... It makes me so mad. This makes me mad! This should not have happened.
Stanford, Yale and NYU line up to get a seat in her class.
My prayer is that the greatness ...that she lived will now find a home within us.
Mattie lived the biggest, greatest life of anyone I've ever known. He lived his life with the light of love, and each of us has the power to do that in our own way.
Matthew's search for stories of people that he could help led him to an abandoned hospital in New Orleans, ... Inside were beloved pets that families had been forced to leave behind during this evacuation. One man vowed to keep them alive. And Matthew went to help him.
With every breath in my body, whatever it takes and, most importantly, with you by my side, we are going to move heaven and earth to stop an evil that's been going on for far too long,
Why do you have to lie about that?
