ball believe built fine giving home leaving lose plate sudden worried
I was kind of worried about him leaving the ball around the plate and giving up a home run, and all of a sudden he'd lose everything he built for the whole game. He said he was fine and I believe my pitchers.
advantage ball game helped inches
When the ball bounces your way, you have a chance. This is a game about inches, and we take advantage of the two inches that helped us today.
ball dirt head hit running saw sudden
The only thing I see, I just put my head down to the right and he was running to the base. All of a sudden I see A.J. running and I'm confused, I don't know what's going on. When someone said the ball hit the dirt and then I saw him running and that's it.
ball garland good home pay run runs three threw
When you have opportunities and you don't take advantage, you're going to pay for it. I think it was a pretty good ballgame. Garland threw the ball pretty good, Cotts and Politte threw the ball real good. It was just a home run in that inning. Three home runs killed us.
ball careful forget kid listen people punished upset winter
Was I real upset about it? Yes. Sometimes you have to be careful with who you listen to. Sometimes you listen to the people that think it's right for them and forget about the kid. Winter ball is over, and I think they punished him for that. I'm not going to take anything away from this kid to make the club.
amazing appreciate ballpark baseball bring chicago city earned empty fans feeling fun good guys half media missing nice people players stomach turned
We appreciate the way the fans have turned out this year. But you have an empty feeling in your stomach when you come out and see half of the ballpark empty. The players earned the people to be watching. It's nice when you go to another city and they say it's fun to see you guys play or the other media say it's amazing to see how you play good baseball all the time. And then you come to Chicago and you feel like you are missing something. You feel like we've done what we have to do to bring people to the ballpark.
balls gets people problem starts throwing walking walks
His problem is when he walks people. When he starts walking people and throwing balls all over the place, he gets in trouble.
ball balls felt game hit hurt innings mccarthy plan plans ready six talked throw trying week
We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down. I'm not trying to hurt my pitcher's feelings, but we had a plan before the game starts. Duque didn't throw the ball the way we like him to throw the ball. Most of the balls that got hit were hit hard. We thought he was going to give me four, five, six innings to get McCarthy ready to go. Our plans didn't work.
ballot believe hall next round selected voting
I don't believe that in the next round of voting I will be selected for the Hall of Fame, but just being on the ballot makes me proud.
ball threw
He was different in the way he threw the ball (Wednesday).
atlanta ball behind bit easier enjoy everybody field game knew pitcher played quick
I always wanted to get off the field as quick as I could. It's easier for everybody and it's more fun. I played behind Maddux a little bit (in Atlanta in 1998-99) and you knew that on any pitch, the (hitter) was going to put the ball in play. You enjoy the game a little bit more when you have a pitcher like that.
against ball couple effort good hanging left overall pitch pitches win
We didn't pitch well. He left a couple pitches hanging against a pretty good ball club. The effort overall wasn't there to win the game.
ball looking obviously soon team twice
As soon as the ball went out of the park, obviously the team went out and I was looking around for Bobby. You don't have to look twice because you can see him right away.
ballpark happening players
There has been a lot of pressure, but every day, I've come to the ballpark with the same enthusiasm, the same face, the same attitude, ... If I don't, the players will look and me and say, 'Uh-oh, what's happening here?'
