I felt like I had to fire it up with Jarred gone. We felt bad for Jarred and wanted to win for him, but everybody was heavy-legged in the first half. It was one of those games we had to gut out.

Coach pulled us aside when there was 2:40 left and said for us to find another gear on defense and get to the basket when we had the ball. That's what we did.

The big difference between last year and this year is that last year we would let games like this slip away from us.

We knew we would have to play tough defense from our first game at their place. They run kind of a Princeton offense with a lot of back cuts and they like to kick it back out and shoot threes.
