It's nothing like it was before, it wasn't that kind of injury, but they just don't know. We're going to be extra cautious.
It still feels very early in the program. I don't think we've done anything truly remarkable yet, but I see the potential for a run. There's a chance for us to be a very good, long-term program where one game or season shouldn't affect that.
It was really a unique experience. I had been at the University of Pacific for my first three years coaching. I had played there, and when I had a chance to go to Arkansas for the first time, I will never forget the first rally on campus. It was crazy, and the energy was awesome, and the band was playing and the students went nuts. It was the first sense of what big-time college football was like, to be on the inside of it. That year at Arkansas was the year that really energized me about being a college coach and liking it and coaching on the big level. I got captured by it.
It's been a big deal in this program about how we finish. Now it's the fourth quarter of the season. We've got three huge games coming up. We're just really fired up about it.
It's great for us and our continuity because he was raised up in our philosophy. We get a real solid addition to the way we like to do things.
It's great to get this close to the game.
It kind of looked like it might have been a little historic the way it finished up, ... for everybody that watches those classic channels and all.
It's been wonderful doing what we've been doing. It's too bad it had to end.
I'm in great shape, and I haven't complained about it at any time. The university has been great and has been proactive about making it known that they want me around.
I'm not sure how it happened last week and I'm not sure how it happened this week. We weren't cheering when the new BCS ranking came out this morning. I know that. The BCS ranking is really important when you finish the season, not now.
I'm not going to make any excuses for any part of this. I'm going to continue to take responsibility for that. I'm not going to point the finger at somebody else. I'm the one who has to continue to get this done.
That last sequence, I didn't want to go to overtime. I thought they'd have an advantage. I told my guys on the last drive we were going for it, ... We had a remarkable opportunity on the inches line. In that sequence, Matt has the option to sneak it or spike it. I pointed to Matt and said, 'Go for the win.'
That really helps us because we come up with a really fast, big, strong, good playmaking guy who can play in a spot where we've been really thin.
That quarterback just ran all over the place. He made the difference. This is their night. Hats off to 'em.
