Is it human nature that we're going to be complacent? I don't see that in any way, ... As a staff, we've worked harder and longer and recruited more than ever before. Probably the opposite of what you think has happened we're more driven then ever.
That's critical if you're going to handle it. You have to be at home with the environment that we've created, feel comfortable and aware of what's happening. Otherwise, we won't be able to hold onto this.
I thought Mark Sanchez handled himself real well. He's gotten experience with every single step this spring. (Sunday) was the biggest test of all.
Since he's ahead of schedule, we should be able to give him the bulk of the work.
I have been under contract for that long the whole time I've been here.
I never thought we'd get that much open space. It was way better than I could have imagined.
This is a young man who's got some very serious stuff he's dealing with right now. We want to help him.
You can watch our players. He has generated this tremendous level of effort by our linemen and our receivers because they don't know where he's going to wind up, and they're convinced when he's running the football it might be to right where they are. Nobody wants to be embarrassed by not having a full level of effort on the play.
But if you look at the difference between the past couple years and this year, we've kind of gone off the charts in all numbers.
Now you just need to maintain the status of your program and I'm hoping that's what we continue to do as we go forward. I'm not looking for an easy way, but we've been there. It's really exciting.
It's going to take some time for the spasm to let up. If it doesn't, there are some considerations that we'll have to look at more seriously what's going on. We'll let him rest for a few days and see how it responds.
I don't even know how powerful it is. But to go through these struggles, we're becoming really strong.
Their offense is really functioning at a high level. They make first downs and move the sticks, and work their way down the field much like New England has been doing over the years. It has been very effective, and it is the same offense.
It kind of looked like it might have been a little historic the way it finished up, ... for everybody that watches those classic channels and all.
