We're always worried that the parents are going to be shocked.
We might have come out a little early. It's still soft and soggy.
The argument about the system is out there and that's probably good, ... We did what we could, impressing the people in the AP poll and the coaches who felt free to vote.
It was really a unique experience. I had been at the University of Pacific for my first three years coaching. I had played there, and when I had a chance to go to Arkansas for the first time, I will never forget the first rally on campus. It was crazy, and the energy was awesome, and the band was playing and the students went nuts. It was the first sense of what big-time college football was like, to be on the inside of it. That year at Arkansas was the year that really energized me about being a college coach and liking it and coaching on the big level. I got captured by it.
A bunch of us got fired at the end. It was a great first experience in the sense that it was the worst thing you could ever do in terms of coaching and development. Getting kicked out the first year, it was miserable.
That only makes sense to me. (Booty) feels terrific - he has no pain at all. To see John David feeling so good gives us the feeling he's going to jump out of this rehab. He wants to throw right now - he feels like he can throw right now.
You don't see numbers like that other than video games.
Right now we're rolling guys through (the secondary) and counting on Terrell Thomas to come back at full speed, but the other guys are battling. We have to see who's going to be most productive.
As you can see, Charlie's factor in what they've been able to do is enormous,
He's been to the mountaintop, so to speak,
It's nothing like it was before, it wasn't that kind of injury, but they just don't know. We're going to be extra cautious.
I would think that Texas has a tremendous amount of motivation building into this game, just as we do, and they don't need any more than that. If that helps them, then it's OK. I can't do anything about it.
It's a display of respect for last year. We're proud of what we accomplished, and other people respect that. But it's what we do from this point forward that counts in 2005.
