detroit good happened hurt job last quarters second stop struggled team third tune type
The second and third quarters hurt us defensively. We struggled and had some stretches where we couldn't stop them. Detroit is a team that is going to do a good job in the last play type of situations, but I'm more in tune to what happened in the second and third quarters than on the last play.
golden heard state teams
I've heard Golden State mentioned, but I've heard 17 or 18 other teams mentioned.
adjustment american-coach basketball consistent defense defensive style team toughness
They've become a very strong-willed team. Their defensive toughness is in evidence. They're more consistent on defense and in their rebounding. This is an adjustment in their style that they were playing. They were more of a free-flowing team and that has changed.
ronnie team
I thought Ronnie struggled. At times he went away from what we were doing as a team and that disappointed me.
channel charged coach compelling dealing emotions fine games harmful highly line nature player situation team walk year
The emotionally charged and highly competitive nature of our games is one of the things that makes it compelling to our fans. The fine line you walk as a player or coach is that you have to channel those emotions in a way that's not harmful to your team or the game. That's the situation we're dealing with. My sense was it was getting better year to year.
bench break caught everybody needed nights obviously team
Obviously we caught a break when he went out because they're not the same team without Vince Carter. Our bench was huge. This was one of those nights when we needed everybody to play well, and they did.
continue danny great night plays team
Danny had a great night. We're a different team when he plays the way he did tonight. We need him to continue to play at that level.
aware close four nine playoff possibilities talking teams
It's very close with teams four through eight. There are some teams out at nine and 10 that are realistically in the picture. You are aware of possibilities and things like that. We're light-years from talking about playoff seeding right now. It's too long to go.
team
They are not the same team without Vince Carter.
johnson played shots teammates
Johnson played great. We did a lot of different things on him defensively, but he was able to get shots or get teammates shots.
offensive quarter team type
They showed in the first quarter what type of team they can be, especially at the offensive end. That was a demolition.
assistant brown coach factor former great happy job loss point position precarious taking teams tony
Any loss right now is a big factor for all the teams involved. Another thing I think is important to point out is Tony Brown did a great job taking over for Doc Rivers. He's a former assistant coach of mine. I'm happy for him. I'm not happy for us. We're in a precarious position right now.
confidence learned playing plays point ready rookies sort teams tougher veteran year
He's at the point now where rookies are still rookies, but they have a veteran sort of confidence about them, and he should. The other thing he has learned this year is that when he plays well, it's going to be tougher to keep playing well because teams are going to keep getting ready for you.
fair goes share team
Every team goes through their fair share of problems. We're just going to have to play through this.
