Any nonprofit organization (in Stark County) was eligible to apply. In many cases, it's the local church or the elementary school or the social service agency that's doing arts projects. We just didn't know about it.

There were very tough decisions, and it was heartbreaking at times. Sometimes a great organization would apply for something that wasn't eligible. Or an application would be so full of jargon, the committee couldn't understand what they were asking for.

To me, this represents Arts in Stark putting its money where its mouth is. We said we're going to be bigger than this (Cultural Center) building, and this list proves it.
