ball biggest definitely happy hard hopefully maintain miss momentum morale race
Just happy with the whole organization -- where we've been, where we're going. To make it into the 500 will definitely get the ball rolling. You know, it's hard to keep guys' morale up when you miss the biggest race of the year. And we've got some momentum now, and hopefully we'll be able to maintain that momentum.
blocked dedicated fact hurt john lost others pit proves road stop team thankful throughout tight tough track wall work
Pit road was tight all day. On one of our first stops, we were blocked in by the No. 10 and lost some track position. It was something we had to work around throughout the race. We're all thankful that John wasn't hurt during the stop and the fact that he even went back over the wall proves how dedicated and tough he and the others on our team are.
allowed cars finishing guy last late night prepared race remember team thursday winter work year
Just not being a new race team. Pretty much every guy on this team was here last year. That allowed us to work on our cars and be prepared over the winter time. I can remember a year ago the night before Bristol, finishing the car late at night on Thursday night and then come to Bristol.
backwards best clean decisions far good hopefully job lap possibly race score smartest somebody thinks wrong
It doesn't have to be me, but if somebody thinks I did them wrong then-bam-you're around backwards and a lap down before you know it. Hopefully I've raced everyone clean so far this year, and I can have a good top-10 finish. I'm just going to do the best job that I can in qualifying and make the smoothest, smartest decisions in the race that I possibly can and score the best result.
atlanta cars confidence daytona finished procedures processes race structures stuff team thinking year
We're not just thinking of the Daytona 500. We've got cars finished all the way through Atlanta right now. So our race team is a lot better race team and we've got a lot of confidence in our guys. We're getting our structures and processes and procedures and all that stuff in place where a year ago, we didn't have that.
chance desert forward knew legs looking stretch terrain
We were really looking forward to this stage, as we knew this would be our first chance to let our Hummer stretch its legs in the desert terrain for which it was designed.
air car clean easily fast finish fought front guys happened laps loss position running track ultimately
We had a top-10 car and one that could easily keep up, but with the guys out front in clean air running such fast laps, the loss of track position ultimately put us two laps down. Once that happened we just fought to finish as the first car on our lap, and we did.
adept came car credit definitely drive knowledge people quiet race racing stock wheels
He's been around racing for so long, he has such an adept knowledge of racing, and a lot of people didn't give him credit for that when he first came into stock car racing. If I had a second-car team, he could drive for me any time. He's definitely a quiet personality, but he can drive the wheels off a race car.
brakes great second took
He got away because he stabbed the brakes then took off. He's a great racer, but second is just first loser.
apologize chose emotions race words
First and foremost, I want to apologize for the words I chose immediately after our race had ended. I let my emotions get the better of me and I apologize.
damn drive face good hate love wheels
Face it, Love me or hate me, I'm going to give you a damn good show and drive the wheels off it.
chickens egg everybody tony
Tony got everybody started, and bam! - they all ran. You get one egg and, before you know it, you've got chickens everywhere.
car corners fastest fuel good laps mileage six stuck
Probably two more corners and we would have got him. We had the fastest car all day. We stuck to our strategy. We only got six laps of practice, and we didn't have a good fuel mileage number.
almost angry asking giving home house obviously people race raise rather wrecked
People started asking me almost immediately after the race if they could have my helmet, and rather than just giving it away, we'll use it to raise more money. Obviously I'm still angry about getting wrecked intentionally, but at the end of the day I still have a house to go home to which is a lot more than a lot of people can say.
