Ever since I've come home to pitch my job has been more than just about pitching. But I still recognize that's the most important thing, to go out there and win.
You still attack the zone with them. I was very aggressive in the zone and let these guys swing the bat like they did.
I've been in a lot of wonderful playoff games, wonderful World Series games, but never anything like this. This game here was incredible.
Every time I hear the anthem I think about her,
I'm glad I made the decision, ... Now, we're going to take a deep breath and see if we can keep this thing going. ... It's great. This is for the city, our fans at home. It's for the entire team, but there are special cases in this.
I was just sitting back letting him enjoy it over there, ... What else can you do?
I ponder to myself, ... this could be my last couple of starts, or the last one. It was a real hard decision for me to continue to play because I felt I had touched just about every aspect of this game that I could. I never want to look back. I want to make sure that I put all my energy, all of my efforts into this game.
He's come a long way since we were teammates in Toronto. He was a good pitcher then. Obviously, he has far more experience now.
She was my strength, ... She was my will.
I'm going to enjoy this, the next two weeks. Good or bad, it won't factor into my decision.
I don't remember a great deal about it,
I was pitching 100% at this time of year regardless. It was my job after the guys came out and put the numbers on the board -- threw strikes, not walk anybody, get them back in and swinging the bat a little bit.
I love this, this is why you get off the couch to play this game. I've been fortunate to have played in a lot of big games, but it's still exciting.
There's a big part of my heart that's missing now with my mother gone, ... I knew I pitched for her, but I didn't realize how much I did that.
