Some of the biggest cheers after the game were for our USC guys when they beat Notre Dame, ... That's the way this team is. I'm in there trying to shake hands, and they don't even know I'm there. The eyes are all glued to the TV.
Some of my will is gone, ... But not all of it. You just look at things differently. Every time I hear the anthem, I think about her. I think about seeing her face for the last time and that's where I'm trying to draw my strength from.
My thoughts going into it was to give the kid tomorrow a little leeway and not have it rest upon his shoulders. We're looking at that game squaring our eyes right now.
Location was a lot better than what I expected and the breaking ball is ahead of schedule.
That was probably one of the harder fastballs I cut loose. He got my attention.
I was trying to find some rhythm after my last start, throwing my last two innings with just my arm, ... This time around I was trying to get the mechanics down and get good pitches, and I wasn't able to do it.
I was trying to stay extremely tall and violent on the mound so my stuff was moving well. Leg feels fine, just emptying the tank.
I still remember my team at UT jumping on me after getting that final out against Alabama to win the National Championship in '83.
there are a handful of us that are a bit older and might not get that chance again.
There are a few guys (on the Mexican team) that we do know, that I'm able to recognize and realize what they can and can't do. But as it goes on now, we're able to get a little more film. I'll look over what Jake did, and some of our other right-handers, and then I'll make my assessment from there.
When you leave a ball in the middle, the guys hit it. That's just the way it is. There's nothing different than the postseason or regular season - get ahead, expand the strike zone and move people around, same thing that you do all year.
You have to be out there a long time,
You have to be mistake-free, so I was trying to be as stingy as possible.
We came back from so much this year. We came a long way last year, but this is even greater. I'm so proud of Roy, man. This kid is fun to watch, and he did it tonight.
