ball came defense fought good guys job last move offense rebound score slow talked week weeks
Our guys came back out and we talked about all week about being able to rebound after last weeks loss. The guys came back and fought hard. Our defense did a good job the whole game. The offense got off to a slow start, but then came on and were able to move the ball and score some points.
gone move perfect plays pocket situation stretch
Just about every situation he's gone in, he's been able to move the team. He hasn't been perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but he has some pocket presence, he can evade the rush, he can make plays and he has made plays. That's why I think he can do it.
coaches job knows move promotions shows system work
We said when he got here that he would have to work his way up. I told my coaches that there aren't going to be any battlefield promotions out on the field. He's going to have to go through the process. When he shows us he knows the system and he's getting the job done, then he'll move up.
determine looking move needs personnel position whatever
We're looking at everything, and if we determine that a personnel move needs to be made, then we'll make a personnel move - at whatever position it is.
continue fame hall keeps might move ready
If he keeps progressing, he might continue to move (up). But I'm not ready to put him in the Hall of Fame yet.
hands high himself knows move played playing proven season sees system
Everyone sees his size. But I really like his technique. He knows how to use his hands and move his feet. He's played this system and proven himself in this season by playing at a high level.
coach everybody felt fit football guy guys looking move needed people productive recognize trade
Some of that was by circumstance. We wanted to move a guy and they wanted two guys in a trade. That position, looking at it, wasn't as productive as it needed to be. I felt we had other people who fit better, so some of them had to leave. As football coaches, you like to think you can coach everybody and anybody, but sometimes you have to recognize that you can't.
anytime carolina game good injuries last might super team year
I think Carolina would be a good game anytime because they are a good team. I told the team that two years ago Carolina was in the Super Bowl. If it hadn't been for the injuries they had last year they might have been back there again.
ben bit coverage fitting good initially injuries involved might overall pass running stuff system talk training understanding
I think Ben might be a little bit better than I initially thought he was in training camp, ... There was some talk about injuries with him and being better in pass coverage than the run. I think overall he's doing a pretty good job. Nothing great, but he is fitting into the system and understanding more about the defense. He's involved in coverage and the running game, so all of that stuff is good.
basically hit open
I think basically he was inaccurate. If a guy's open and you don't hit him, that's not the defense.
changes evaluate leaving needed personnel position situation whatever
I said that we would evaluate our situation and if personnel changes needed to be made, we would make them, at whatever position. I did not specify any position or anybody, and that's what I'm leaving it at. OK?
asking block guys miss
Well, I thought about the possibility of asking those guys to not block at all so Dennis could make someone miss on his own. When we try to block, that's when we get penalties.
cincinnati competing division good pittsburgh playoff teams within
Well, we're just not good enough within the division overall. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are the measuring stick. They're playoff teams you're competing with, and we're not there yet.
attitude everybody lost thinks
I tell them all the time: It's a honeymoon. The attitude is great, everybody thinks that you're going in the right direction, but we haven't lost one that counts. When that happens, we'll see what happens.
