A lot of it really is earnings driven. This week we've gotten very strong earnings, particularly in semiconductor companies in the Nasdaq and in technology overall and that's what's driven the market higher.

A lot of people were pinning their hopes on Vista to drive a PC upgrade cycle this year.

Their first releases are always filled with bugs, so my guess is corporate users are going to take a long time to evaluate Vista before actually buying it.

We're more or less waiting and seeing, ... Pfizer's dividend is definitely safe. It's the biggest drug company with good cash flow. It could easily buy a biotech company and improve their (research and development) line that way. That's what you're going to see with large-cap companies. They're going to partner up with biotech companies or buy them outright as a way to improve their (product) pipelines.
