Ronald Leon "Magic" Wardwas a National Hockey League player from 1970-1972 who played defence for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks. He then switched to the fledgling World Hockey Association, playing for the New York Raiders in the 72–73 season. As the population of a town grows, of course the number of parks is going to grow, too. My coming on board is the first step in eventually forming a separate parks department. But first, I need to learn where all the parks are. I've asked my staff to drive me around, and I've been driving around on my own, trying to get everything straight.

On the way back, my wife, Donna, and I decided to drive through Johnston to see just how interested we would be in coming here should an opportunity present itself. We immediately liked what we saw.
