John Russell Thomaswas an American football tackle who played four seasons with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1946 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State University and attended Charleston High School in Charleston, West Virginia.
