That was a really special day. It was a chance for me to go back to my college and get a big honor, and it happened on my birthday.

I was happy to see that. I was ready to hit. There were a lot of fans out to see me and it was nice to get a start. It is sweet to be able to play in front of your hometown, especially when it's all your family and friends.
beyond enjoyable minor playing
When I first started playing (in the minor leagues) I didn't really have any idea what it was going to be like. For the most the part it's been nothing but positive. I've been able to play way beyond my abilities and have been able to go a lot of different places. It's been an enjoyable part of my and my wife's life.
