I wanted to enjoy the performance. This is a really fun program, a Gypsy number. It's very seductive and playful and it's getting involved with the crowd and the judges. I enjoyed it and just let it happen.

It's not like it would be a stretch, and hopefully I'll get to be funny. There are a lot of characters in skating.

I asked him to say hi to my mom to prove he was there, and he was really great and nice and talked to her for a couple of minutes. My mom said she nearly fell off her chair, she was so excited.

It was very difficult. I wasn't coming back with an easy jump, with the triple loop, which I also slammed in the warm-up. I was able to believe when everything was dark and gray. The music carried me through. It goes beyond an athletic event, goes to emotional experience.

It's been very nice and very relaxing to be back in California. And Mr. Nicks knows me so well. I'm in a great situation, and I can't wait to get the season started.

I definitely didn't think I was going to get any medal when I finished skating. I was just in a little bit of shock.

Skaters have to follow certain guidelines. Hopefully, you'll see people with more interesting spins and focusing on the rest of the program and not just the jumps.

I was disappointed and in a little bit of shock. I had a really hard time with a couple of jumps in the warm-up and I just couldn't get over it. I definitely didn't think I was going to get any medal at all at the end of the program, so it was a nice surprise.
competing empty felt michelle miss
It felt a little empty with her not here. Michelle has always been a big part of the event. I miss competing with her. It really doesn't feel like the Nationals.
