The actual effect of the weather will show up through decreased plant productivity. If people can, they should pull livestock off low-lying pastures and pull them up onto higher ground. Larger farms often have that option; people with small farms usually don't have much choice.

Think about the amount of energy it takes a person to walk across a nice, dry, grassy area versus a field of mud. The same is true for livestock.
